Well it’s been an enjoyable week since I grabbed the reins and took charge. Firstly a huge thank you to all those people who have written in with words of ‘glee’ to see us back and encouragement for the future. I have written back answering most gaming related and editorial enquiries, or passed the technical queries onto the people who would actually have a clue!
Our advert offer has been taken up by droves of people, both industry types and from clubs and services. Issue 9 is looking like being a bumper issue so look out for it mid April. I was especially pleased that the offer allowed ‘non-profit’ organisations to actually get some exposure and I will see if it is possible to do this in the future in the form of a ‘club, personal website and organisation’ page with smaller free adverts. If you would be interested then drop me a line and convince me that you ‘qualify’.
Review wise we have a number of rules and products lined up ready and waiting … reviews will appear on the site and/or the magazine. So if you have a product you would like us to review drop me a mail and I will gladly tell you where to send it so one of our reviewers can get onto it.
One of the biggest days in our English gaming calendar is coming up shortly … Salute in London. Apart from it being a drain on the wallet it is always a day for new releases; this year I am looking forward to the ‘Impetus’ rules to make an appearance, although we may be able to do a review beforehand due to the Italian version being out sooner … I will see what we can do! There was a rumour that some of the new plastics will be out at the show as well. The closest obviously are the Perry’s ACW range but the Roman 28mm from either company can’t be too far away surely.
Gaming wise this week we have been playing Field of Glory, the time it is taking to play 800 points is declining rapidly and we are looking at the 2 – 3 hour range the ‘veterans’ suggest it takes. We have been busy making up some fantasy lists so we can use our Warmaster figures with the rules and also eagerly await the Impetus rules to run out against them – look out a comparative article (playing the same battle with each set) once we have a review online.
Apart from that I have been looking at, and trying a ‘draft’ of Two Hour Wargames’ work in progress ‘Legendary Heroes’, all I can say is that I can feel a lot of fantasy skirmish coming on! My Black Hawk Down obsession has resurfaced with the latest Ambush Alley supplement, ‘The Day of the Rangers’. The fact that it can be played on a 2’ x 2’ table in a fast and furious fashion has done nothing for my work rate on ‘real life’ jobs … oh well.
Don’t forget to check out our forum (not the one on this site but our dedicated forum) http://rebelpublishing.net/forums/ and request any articles you might like to see or just to tell us what you think so far. From Issue 10 onwards the forum will be playing a major part in the world wide ‘campaigns’ we have planned.
Well that’s it for this week folks … off to roll some dice!
